    Southern Algeria Explorer

    Visit the cultures and scenery of the Hoggar Massif and Atakor Mountains

    The Algerian Sahara is one of the richest and most beautiful deserts. It is a natural open air museum and understandably one of the most coveted destinations by visitors of Algeria. Four-wheel-drive vehicles will take you through an ever-changing landscape varying from fantastic volcanic mountains to rolling sand dunes, deep canyons, and beautiful green oases.

    Then, in the heart of the Hoggar Massif, rise the Atakor Mountains with their impressive sharp rocks, tall peaks, and sawed out mountain ridges. This terrain completely contrasts the volcanic landscape with its basalt pillars and its round eroded hills. The Atkor has the highest mountains in the Hoggar, and the view from Assekreme is an overwhelming sight. The panorama opens below to black forbidding rocks, cliffs, and jagged mountain peaks.
