    Colombia Cultural Extravaganza

    Medellin Festival of Flowers, Andean Pueblo, Cartagena

    Day 1      Arrive Medellin

    Arrive in Medellin. Meet your guide at the airport and transfer to the hotel.

    Lodging: Medellin Poblado Park

    Day 2      Medellin

    Explore the second-largest city of Colombia with an extensive city tour. Situated in the Aburra Valley, Medellîn boasts an impressive population of almost 3 million people and contains some incredible artistic and historical sights. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

    Day 3      Medellin

    Today is the big day! Feria de las Flores is one of the most colorful spectacles in the world. The festival consists of a flower procession, automobiles, and a Paso Fino horse parade. Between the crowds, the magnificent horses, and the "silleteros" carrying the intricate flower arrangements, this is a party you will absolutely never forget. Drink some Colombian beer and kick back in the bleachers or wander along the barricades and meet some locals.

    Day 4      Andean Pueblo

    Transfer to Andean Pueblo, a small village located in the Andes Mountains (approximately four hours from Medellîn). On the way, stop at the Hummingbird Watch to observe around 36 species of hummingbirds that feed here. Afterward, arrive in the village, and the remainder of the day is yours to relax or explore.

    Day 5      Andean Pueblo

    Hike the Petroglyphs Trail with a private guide (about a four-hour trek). Observe indigenous rock carvings which are only able to be seen when water is poured over them. These rock carvings were created between 1,000-2,000 years go by the Quimbaya and Cartama tribes. Later, visit an orange farm, where you will enjoy a tasty meal (lots of orange juice included)!

    Day 6      Andean Pueblo

    Depart by horse from a small village near Andean Pueblo for a horseback ride and coffee tour. Ride for about two hours, stopping at incredible lookout points on the mountain, before arriving at the finca for your coffee tour. The tour is led by the coffee plantation owner himself, one of the few who conducts the whole coffee process himself. After trying the coffee, you will agree it's the best you've ever had! Later, enjoy a local dish called "sancocho," hearty stew made with chicken, beef, pork, and various vegetables.  Then, hop on your horse and head down the mountain.

    Day 7      Cartagena

    Head to the airport for your flight transfer to Cartagena

    Lodging: Cartagena Fortress Boutique (or similar)

    Day 8      Cartagena

    Cartagena will charm you with it's architecturally preserved walled city, labyrinth of cobbled alleys, and massive, colonial-style churches. Embark on a historic city tour through this artistic town chock-full of adorable cafes and colorful villas. Later, spend the evening as you wish.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
    Lodging: Cartagena Fortress Boutique

    Day 9      Onward

    Transfer to the airport in the morning for your flight onward or home.
