Baja Blast: A Family Adventure Trip

A Holiday Adventure for Families with Culture, Hiking, Surfing & Swimming with Sea Lions

    Day 1      Arrive Cabo

Welcome to Baja! Upon arrival in Cabo you will be met and transferred to Hotel Tropicana. Your guide will meet you at the hotel and drive you to Todos Santos (90 minutes), where your family will check into a lovely room with an ocean view. This tropical paradise  has a diverse selection of art galleries, boutiques, inns, and restaurants. Todos Santos was officially designated a Pueblo Magico, or "magical town," on June 17, 2006. In the evening you'll enjoy a welcome dinner and have an introductory trip briefing.

    Meals: Dinner
Day 2      Surfing, Soccer, and Pinatas

Fun and excitement awaits you at Los Cerritos, where you'll learn to surf at one of the best breaks in Baja. The instructors will ensure that you'll get up on a wave – at least for a few moments! When it's time to take a break from surfing, your guides will organize games and beachside walks according to the interests of the group. Kids will love checking out the tide pools and discovering secret marine worlds that are visible only during low tides. Lunch is at a local restaurant on the beach, then your children can play soccer with local kids their own age and take part in an exciting pinata party. They'll learn lots about Mexican culture and celebration from their peers. Today ends with a delicious dinner at the famous Hotel California.

Ride the waves at Los Cerritos!
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
    Day 3      Desert Canyon Hike

Your family will stretch their legs today with an incredible desert canyon hike, seeing three waterfalls and fantastic desert scenery along the way (4 hours roundtrip, 2.5 hours walking). After a picnic lunch at one of the waterfalls, you'll go horseback riding on the beach. In the evening you'll enjoy some bird watching and gaze at the stars with a local astronomer. Your family will learn about Aztec, Mayan, and Greek mythology while exploring the skies.

See waterfalls and beautiful scenery in Desert Canyon
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 4      San Vincente's Mountain Potters

Take advantage of a fantastic opportunity today by experiencing the traditional lifestyle of Baja's mountain ranchers (90 minute drive roundtrip). Your family will meet local potters in a true mountain oasis and learn how Baja Californians have lived and supported themselves in the mountains for centuries. Dona Ramona will teach a pottery class while talking about her ranching way of life, then her family will prepare a delicious lunch and give tortilla-making lessons before you dine. Dona Ramona is one of the few artisans in the area who didn't start creating pottery until adulthood. She is very skilled at pottery, and her pieces have a long history in this village. She makes many musical instruments and bells, and some of her whistles have been used in local church rituals. In the evening, take part in cooking lessons with a local chef and dine on your own creations.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 5      Cliff Walk and Beach Picnic

Today's walk along a cliff edge takes your family past sea lions, birds, whales, and the area's unique flora. The whole family will love seeing this amazing local wildlife in its natural habitat. Afterwards you'll enjoy a picnic lunch on a pristine, palm-ringed beach and spend the afternoon swimming and relaxing.

    Enjoying a Baja Cliff Walk
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 6      Kayaking the Balandra Bay

Spend the day kayaking in a safe, secluded bay featuring mangrove swamps, magnificent rock formations, and a beautiful beach where you'll enjoy a picnic lunch. If your family hasn't gone kayaking before, this is an excellent opportunity to learn about it in an easygoing environment. Cap off the day with a stop for ice cream on the way back to the hotel.

    Go kayaking in Balandra Bay
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 7      Swimming with Sea Lions

Your family is in for a truly incredible experience today. Not only will you go snorkeling and explore Baja's underwater world, you'll also get to swim with sea lions! These playful creatures reside at the Los Islotes sea lion colony, and if you are polite and respectful, they may even swim close enough for you to pet them. In the evening, return to the hotel for a relaxing dinner.

    Say hello to sea lions!
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
    Day 8      Baja/Onward

You will be transferred to the airport for your flight home today. Your family's journey in Baja may be ending, but the memories you've made will stay alive for a lifetime.

The sun sets on Todos Santos and your journey
