Get ready for the spring break of a lifetime! This nine day exploration of Cabo is sure to delight kids and adults alike. The region's breathtaking desert landscapes and unique wildlife are a gorgeous backdrop for swimming, picnic lunches, hiking, and all of the other amazing experiences on this trip. You  will go whale watching in Magdelena Bay, kayak in Balandra Bay, and swim with sea lions at Los Islotes. We will learn about different cultures as they connect with local people through a soccer game and pinata party, and everyone will appreciate the beautiful pottery and hardworking lifestyle of Baja's mountain ranchers. This trip's exciting outdoor activities, unique wildlife experiences, and relaxing beaches create an all-around excellent family adventure.

  • Day 1: Arrive Cabo

    Welcome to Baja! Upon arrival you'll be met at the airport and transferred to Hotel Tropicana. Your guide will meet you there and drive you to Todos Santos (90 minutes), where your family will check into a lovely room with an ocean view. This tropical paradise  has a diverse selection of art galleries, boutiques, inns, and restaurants. Todos Santos was officially designated a Pueblo Magico, or "magical town," on June 17, 2006. In the evening you'll enjoy a welcome dinner and have an introductory trip briefing.

  • Day 2: Desert Canyon Hike
    See waterfalls and beautiful scenery in Desert Canyon

    Your family will stretch their legs today with an incredible hike through a beautiful desert canyon. Water flows through this arroyo during the rainy summer season, and you'll see the resulting luch foliage famed by the dry desert landscape throughout the hike. It's a wonderful way to explore the survival techniques of the local flora and fauna. There are 3 places that host waterfalls when there is enough water that you can observe. (4 hours roundtrip, 2.5 hours walking). After a picnic lunch at one of the waterfalls, you'll go horseback riding on the beach. In the evening you'll enjoy some bird watching and gaze at the stars with a local astronomer. Your family will learn about Aztec, Mayan, and Greek mythology while exploring the skies.

  • Day 3: San Vincente's Mountain Potters

    Take advantage of a fantastic opportunity today by experiencing the traditional lifestyle of Baja's mountain ranchers (90 minute drive roundtrip). Your family will meet local potters in a true mountain oasis and learn how Baja Californians have lived and supported themselves in the mountains for centuries.  Dona Ramona will teach a pottery class while talking about her ranching way of life, then her family will prepare a delicious lunch and give tortilla-making lessons before you dine. Dona Ramona is one of the few artisans in the area who didn't start creating pottery until adulthood. She is very skilled at pottery, and her pieces have a long history in this village. She makes many musical instruments and bells, and some of her whistles have been used in local church rituals. In the evening, take part in cooking lessons with a local chef and dine on your own creations.

  • Day 4: Kayaking the Balandra Bay
    Go kayaking in Balandra Bay

    Spend the day kayaking in a safe, secluded bay featuring mangrove swamps, magnificent rock formations,  and a beautiful beach where you'll enjoy a picnic lunch. If your family hasn't gone kayaking before, this is an excellent opportunity to learn about it in an easygoing environment.  Cap off the day with a stop for ice cream on the way back to the hotel.

  • Day 5: Swimming with Sea Lions
    Swimming with sea lions!

    Your family is in for a truly incredible experience today. Not only will you go snorkeling and explore Baja's underwater world, you'll also get to swim with sea lions! These playful creatures reside at the Los Islotes sea lion colony, and if you are polite and respectful, they may even swim close enough for you to pet them. In the evening, return to the hotel for a relaxing dinner.

  • Day 6: Whale Watching in Magdelena Bay
    Petting a whale in Magdelena Bay

    Another treat awaits you today! After being transferred to Magdelana Bay (4 hours), you'll set out for three hours of whale watching. Kids will love spotting the whales in the bay, and they can even pet the whales and take pictures of them! In the evening, enjoy a relaxing dinner and rest up for another day of whale watching.

  • Day 7: Whale Watching in Magdelena Bay

    This morning you'll have the opportunity to go whale watching again. After lunch, say goodbye to your new marine friends and return to Todos Santos (about 4.5 hours). For dinner, you can choose from an annotated list of local restaurants that will give you a free dinner upon your arrival.

  • Day 8: Cliff Walk and Beach Picnic
    Enjoying a cliff walk

    Today's walk along a cliff edge takes your family past sea lions, birds, whales, and the area's unique flora. The whole family will love seeing this amazing local wildlife in its natural habitat. Afterwards you'll enjoy a picnic lunch on a pristine, palm-ringed beach and spend the afternoon swimming and relaxing. A farewell dinner awaits you at the hotel this evening.

  • Day 9: Baja/Onward
    The sun sets on Todos Santos and your journey

    You will be transferred to the airport for your flight home today. Your family's journey in Baja may be ending, but the memories you've made will stay alive for a lifetime.

Included in costs: Meals as noted, each night in double occupancy accommodations, land transfers between components, English speaking guides, park or site entry fees, surface transport, equipment other than personal gear, government tax, airport transfer assistance, in-country ticket reconfirmation and check-in assistance (where permitted), complete pre-departure packet, toll-free pre-departure phone assistance.

Not included in costs: Meals not noted as included, gratuities, beverages (except tea or coffee at meals), international or domestic airfare unless specified, airport departure taxes not included with air tickets, visas, itinerary changes after confirmation, any services not included in itinerary, any costs incurred due to canceled or delayed flights, acts of nature or other happenings beyond our control, or other costs as are more fully described in JOURNEYS Terms & Conditions.

Deposit and payment schedule: $500 per person per trip or the applicable amount based on the trip and the proximity of the departure date. A second deposit of $800 per person is due four months prior to departure, and final payment for land arrangements is due 60 days prior to departure.  Any applicable permit fees required in advance are non-refundable as well.  Airlines require full payment when tickets are issued. The deposit may be made by Visa, Master Card, American Express, or check, and the Reservation Form may be submitted by fax, mail, or via our website. Full payment schedule and cancellation penalties are described in our Terms and Conditions as noted in our Global Expedition Catalog, on our website, and elsewhere. Please request these if you do not have them before advancing a deposit.

Air fares: JOURNEYS can make complete air arrangements applicable to your trip as noted in this itinerary. If you wish to redeem frequent flyer mileage or arrange flights directly with the airline, you may do so on your own at no penalty. If you do, please consult with us on exact arrival and departure dates and times before having your tickets issued to avoid errors.

Insurance: When you make your application, we strongly recommend the purchase of comprehensive travel insurance in case of emergency situations. Please contact us for a recommended policy.

Itinerary Change Fee: There will be a $40 fee for changes once an itinerary has been confirmed and approved. Additional cancellation penalties or change fees may apply as per our terms and conditions. The passenger is responsible for such fees.
