| Day 1 § Delhi | Upon arrival at the airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a half day city tour of Old and New Delhi beginning with a visit to the Red Fort, built by the great Mughal Emperor Shahjehan in Red Sandstone. You also visit Jama Masjid, the historic mosque that is one of the largest in India, Raj Ghat, the cremation ground of Mahatma Gandhi and the India Gate, a monument dedicated to the soldiers who became martyrs during WWII. Overnight at a local hotel in Delhi.
| | Day 2 § Delhi/Agra/Delhi | Depart early in the morning by private car for Agra. Pass through villages where camels and ox carts are the preferred mode of transportation. You will also see women walk the paths balancing enormous water and grain jars on their heads. Along the way, stop at Fatehpur Sikri (around 12 miles from Agra). Sikri is a red sand stone fort, which was once the capital of Akbar, later abandoned due to scarcity of water. Upon arrival in Agra, explore the famous Taj Mahal, built by Emperor Shahjehan for his Empress Mumtaz Mahal. This is the eternal symbol of India and Agra. You will also visit the Agra Fort, a blend of architectural style that was principally a military structure, but during Shah Jahan's reign, it had partially become a palace. Return to New Delhi in the evening for your overnight. (B)
| | Day 3 § Delhi/Depart | You have the day free to relax or do some last minute shopping until your transfer to the airport for your onward flight. (B)
