    Moon Over Myanmar

Shwedagon, Mandalay & Inle Lake, reflecting the moonlight & a long JOURNEYS friendship

Myanmar is a land of exquisite beauty and rich natural resources, emerging from a painful chapter of repressive military rule. Visit during this time of opening and possibility, in the company of JOURNEYS Director of Clients Services, Florine Herendeen. JOURNEYS' friendships run deep here. This trip coincides with the Full Moon Festival ,also known as the Harvest Festival, when the moon and the season are celebrated with moving religious ceremony.  Rice speckled with coconut, sesame seeds, peanuts, ginger, and oil is distributed to all the attendees of the ceremonies, and there are competitions to see who can offer the most rice to the Great Lord Buddha.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain an overview of the culture and Buddhist tradition of Myanmar while visiting both the highlights and special out-of-the-way locales. From the famous, breathtaking, Shwedagon Pagoda to the floating village of Ywama, you will gain a well-rounded understanding of the appropriately coined "Golden Land."
