| Day 1 § Chaing Mai / Sukhothai | Depart from Chiang Mai to the quiet town of Lamphun to visit Wat Phra That Hariphunchai, with its 150-foot gilded stupa topped with a nine-tiered gold umbrella, one of the holiest stupa in Thailand, built almost 1,000 years ago. Afterward, drive to Lampang to visit Wat Phra That Lampang Luang the oldest teakwood temple in the region. After lunch, which is provided at a local restaurant, continue to the historical park of Sri Satchanalai, which you can visit Wat Chang Lom and Wat Chedi Jet Taew, both of which are beautiful temples with high stupas and lovely grounds surrounding them. Afterward, drive to Sukhothai, Thailand’s ancient first capital, where you will spend the night.

| | Day 2 § Sukhothai / Bangkok | After breakfast at the hotel, visit Wat Mahatat, Museum and Wat Srichum in the expansive old city of Sukhothai (“the dawn of happiness”), a UNESCO World Heritage historical park, and a mere half-mile from your hotel. Sukhothai was an early kingdom in the area that existed from the 13th to 15th centuries; the ruins in the park are extensive and wonderful to explore. At your option (for a small additional cost), you and your family can rent bicycles to explore the historical park. Enjoy lunch at local restaurant, then, in the afternoon, transfer to Sukhothai Airport for your departure to Bangkok. (Note: Airfare from Sukhothai to Bangkok via Bangkok Airways is an additional $150 per person, subject to change.)
