HighlightsSing Sing PNG is superbly varied in nature, culture, and the adventure experience available to curious travelers. We designed this new trip to be a bit more exploratory and culturally adventurous than our traditional show offerings which feature best available accommodations. Our goal is to meet local people as guests in their villages, travel by motorized canoe to less-visited villages on the Sepik River, and yet gain a close-up experience of the famous and dramatic Mt. Hagen Show. You will witness one of the most dramatic, colorful, and unrestrained dance and drumming competitions on the face of the earth. You will see the famous sacred Birds of Paradise and hike among communities inaccessible to conventional lodge and cruise-centered itineraries. Your leaders will include Cedric Kulimbua, a host and guide for JOURNEYS' PNG trips for many years, and Will Weber, Ph.D., founder of JOURNEYS. Cedric, who is fluent in English, is an expert in Papuan cultures, local languages, and travel logistics. Will has led dozens of JOURNEYS trips throughout the world. He enjoys birding, photography, and cross-cultural engagement. You will be joined by local guides at each separate venue. While we will take extra steps to ensure your comfort, safety, and dining pleasure, be aware that you will be traveling in remote areas with limited amenities. This is not a trekking or camping trip, but expect our village accommodations to be simple, possibly with shared facilities. Single supplements may not guarantee a private room at all locations. Roads in PNG may be rough and muddy. The weather may be hot. Some scheduled flights may experience schedule changes requiring itinerary modification. We expect to deal with all travel contingencies on your behalf, but read this itinerary as an exciting outline of an adventure, not an exacting promise of precise timing and detail. Generally, you will rise early, often at dawn, to experience our destinations fully. We will strive to accommodate the special requirements of photographers, birders, and artifact collectors. "My wife and I had a great time on this trip. Everything we did fully met or exceeded our expectations. The Mt. Hagen Show was a spectacle almost beyond belief. Our lodge stays gave us looks at life in three distinctly different parts of PNG that were extremely interesting."
