Adoor is a town and a municipality near Pandalam in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala state, India, spread over an area of 20.42 km2. The town is located midway between Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam. It is among one of the three municipalities in Pathanamthitta district. The Chandanapally Valiyapally Church is located 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) from Adoor. Chembuduppu (meaning choosing of copper vessels) is a special ritual that has a place in Kerala's cultural history, which take place in Chandanapally every year. Hermon Aramana, the headquarters of Adoor Diocese of Marthoma Church, and the Marthoma Youth Center are other culturally important places in Adoor. Adoor Immanuel Marthoma Church, St. Mary's Orthodox Church, and Sacred Heart Malankara Catholic Church etc. are churches in the heart of town. Kadampanad, St. Thomas Orthodox Cathedral, Kannamkode St. Thomas Orthodox Cathedral, and the centre of Adoor Diosis of orthodox church is also located near Kannamcode Cathedral. The cathedral has two branches, chapels,in Kottamukal and in Pannivizha. Mor Ignatius Jacobite Syrian Church, MC Road, Vadakadathukavu, Adoor Kannamkode Marthoma Church Vellakulangara and St. Gregorios church, Peringanad are some of the other churches of importance in this region. Mannadi Temple has historical importance due to the sacrifice of Travancore Diwan Velu Thampi Dalava (1765–1809), who fought the British Raj. It is 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from Adoor. Maramadi Malsaram bull race is an event that is held at Anandapally, which is a few kilometres away from Adoor. This event attracts national and international visitors. The event, which takes place right after the harvest, is aimed at promoting the spirit of farmers. Trichennamangalam Temple Peringanadu, Adoor - Peringanadu is a small village located near Adoor. The village boasts of secular feeling entrenched in its soul. It is expressed through various fesivals and celebrations, prominent among them are ulsavam in the month of March. The very famous Shiva Temple, Peringanadu Trichenda Mangalam Mahadeva Temple is located here. The Temple is famous for its Kettu Kazhcha during the annual festival continue 10 days Ulsavam. Kettu Kazhcha is the procession of huge chariot (thaeru) and bull (Kaala) made of wood and cloth by groups belonging to different areas (karaa).
