We know that more and more of you seek opportunities to make your travel helpful to the people in the destinations you visit. JOURNEYS has always supported local projects in our destinations, but our new Volunteer and Explore partnership with Global Volunteers, a Minnesota -based non-profit organization provides many more diverse, worldwide, well- organized, hands-on opportunities than we have offered before. Combine a JOURNEYS trip with a Global Volunteers project participation and we will donate an additional $100 to your Global Volunteers project.
Global Volunteers, a “pioneer” of volunteer vacations since 1984, mobilizes some 2,500 short-term volunteers annually to work on development programs worldwide. Teach conversational English to youth and adults, care for orphaned babies, nurture disabled youth, assist with health care and labor projects and more while learning about
the local culture in fascinating locales. Global Volunteers supports more than 100 host communities through year-around volunteer service, on-going project funding and child sponsorships. You can make a significant difference in just a short time working on genuine community work projects. Service program fees, ranging from $995 to $2,895, and air fare are tax-deductible for U.S. tax-payers.
Global Volunteers works only:
• At the invitation of local organizations
• On projects determined by local decision
• Under the direction of local leaders
• On community-based projects
• Hand-in-hand with local people
Where can you serve with Global Volunteers:
• Africa
• Asia
• Europe
• North / Central America
• Pacific
• South America
If you contact Global Volunteers, mention that you learned about their programs from JOURNEYS International.
“I have great respect for Global Volunteers’ philosophy and policies. With each trip, I’m touched and humbled by the possibility of helping a child or young adult. Global Volunteers enables me to not just be a passive world traveler but to be an active participant, a citizen diplomat"
