Joan Weber - Director

Joan Weber is Co-founder and Director (with husband Will Weber) of JOURNEYS International, a 30-year old specialized tour company based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. JOURNEYS designs custom and small-group nature, culture and eco tours in sixty countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, the Pacific and the Americas. In 1980, Joan inaugurated the company division called JOURNEYS For Families, offering uniquely tailored cultural explorations, nature adventures, and safaris for individual families, groups of families, and grandparents with grandchildren. In 1990 she inaugurated special trips for women travelers looking for unique cross-cultural experiences. Joan holds a doctorate in Education and Psychology from the University of Michigan and has taught at the elementary, high school and college levels in the United States and in Nepal.
In 2008, for the sixth consecutive year, Condé Nast Traveler Magazine recognized Joan Weber as a Top Travel Specialist for Family and Multi-generational Travel.
Joan has traveled extensively on six continents solo, with JOURNEYS clients, with women's groups and with family. Joan and Will have been traveling with their son and daughter, now adults, since they were toddlers.

Will Weber - Director
Will Weber, Ph.D., co-founder and director of JOURNEYS (with wife Joan Weber) , frequently accompanies new group trips. A former Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal, Will enjoys teaching about birds, natural history, hiking and photography. He has visited most of JOURNEYS destinations and personally selected many of our local guides and hosts. His favorite regions are Himalayan Asia and East Africa, but he also enjoys visiting Latin America and West Africa nearly every year. Will has won 2008 Top Travel Specialist for Community Based Tourism and 2007 Top Travel Specialist for Africa from Condé Nast.
Will spent three years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal in the early 1970's and has been a frequent world traveler ever since. He frequently leads active, nature and culture themed trips to Asia, Africa and Latin America as part of the JOURNEYS Signature Trip Program and in scouting new trips. He has made more than 50 Himalayan treks and nature trips and led photo and wildlife safaris throughout Africa.
